Climatempo and Inmet warn of severe storms in Rio Grande do Sul with risk of hail and intense rain

According to Climatempo Meteorologia, the areas with the greatest potential for the occurrence of severe storms are the regions of Missões, Northwest, North, Northeast, Center and Serra. In these locations, in addition to the possibility of large hail, rainfall volumes can vary between 20 and 50 millimeters throughout the day, with occasional accumulations that can reach 90 millimeters.

The period of greatest concern occurs between dawn and morning in the northern half of the state. In the afternoon, instability should also hit areas of Campanha and the Central Region with force.

Alerts from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) reinforce the scenario. The agency issued storm warnings valid throughout Friday for Rio Grande do Sul. In addition to the warning of potential danger (in yellow) for the entire state, there is a warning of danger (in orange) covering a large part of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and a warning of great danger (in red) for areas of the Serra, the Northwest and the Northeast. After the passage of the most intense system, the scenario gradually changes on Saturday (12). The rain loses strength, but the sky remains heavy in many areas of the state. There is a possibility of drizzle and light rain, especially in the Eastern half and in the Campaign.

The highlight is the entry of a mass of cold air. Maximum temperatures are expected to be between 9°C and 19°C, while minimum temperatures predicted for the night range from 7°C to 13°C.

On Sunday (13), the action of a high pressure system should guarantee stable weather in most of Rio Grande do Sul. Dawn will be marked by more intense cold, mainly in Serra and Campanha.

The lowest temperatures predicted are 7°C in municipalities such as Pinheiro Machado, São José dos Ausentes and Cambará do Sul. During the afternoon, warming will be more significant in the Northwest, where cities like Iraí can reach 23°C.
