Chinese representative calls for improving Palestinian health conditions

China News Service, Geneva, May 22. The 79th World Health Assembly voted on the "Health Situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (including East Jerusalem) and the Occupied Syrian Golan" on the 20th. Ja Guide, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, made a speech, calling for the improvement of the health situation in Palestine.

Jaguide pointed out that since the outbreak of the new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the health situation in the occupied Palestinian territories has deteriorated sharply. Lives cannot be ignored due to conflict, hospitals should not become battlefields, and medical staff and humanitarian workers should not be targeted. We call on relevant parties to fully abide by the ceasefire agreement, earnestly fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law, lift restrictions on access to humanitarian supplies, and ensure that humanitarian agencies such as the WHO can carry out assistance safely, continuously, and without hindrance.

Jia Guide emphasized that China firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights, and the "two-state solution" is the only feasible way to solve the Palestinian issue. The international community should take practical actions to promote an early comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue and fundamentally eliminate the root causes of long-term violations of the local people's rights to health and survival.
