Hsinchu Mayor Gao Hong'an has been at the bottom of the country's policy satisfaction survey for four consecutive years, and is the only mayor in Taiwan who failed this year. Zhuang Jingcheng, candidate for Hsinchu mayor of the Democratic Progressive Party, angrily criticized Gao Hongan for using polls commissioned by the city government to deceive himself and others.

Zhuang Jingcheng, candidate for Hsinchu mayor of the Democratic Progressive Party, mentioned today that a media magazine published the "County Mayor Governance Satisfaction Survey". Not surprisingly, Hsinchu Mayor Gao Hong'an ranked last in Taiwan and was the only county mayor in Taiwan who failed. Coincidentally, in June this year, another media magazine's "County Mayor Governance Achievements Hero List" gave Gao Hong'an only 3.5 stars, still ranking last. However, Gao Hong'an yesterday released a poll commissioned by the city government, claiming that his governance satisfaction reached 71.6%. This is standard self-deception and refusal to face problems.

Zhuang Jingcheng said that only by facing problems can problems be solved. He would use real public opinion and problems encountered by citizens to crack Gao Hongan's illusions. When the Gao Hong'an City Government is always trying to whitewash the situation, it's no wonder that the citizens' problems have never been solved. From transportation and education to urban aesthetics and city appearance maintenance, we must truly return to the daily lives of citizens, so that Hsinchu's progress does not only exist in numbers, but can be felt by citizens. He said that false numbers and false statements will lead to improper decision-making, and called on Gao Hongan to stop deceiving himself and others.

City Councilor Yang Lingyi also mentioned that Hsinchu City has been at the bottom in terms of policy satisfaction for four consecutive years. One time can be said to be accidental, and two times can be said to be coincidence. If it lags behind every year, can we continue to blame the polls? Hsinchu City has a science park, high-tech industries, and one of the best economic strengths in Taiwan. The result? Urban construction cannot keep up, traffic problems have not been solved, and citizens’ feelings about municipal administration are still “not good enough.” The real progress of a city is not decided by the mayor himself. The public has seen enough in 4 years, and we call on the public to find another person to do the work in the next 4 years.

The city government responded that it views the results of various surveys with an open, humble and respectful attitude. Different surveys have different survey times, methods and indicator designs, and the results presented are also different. Regardless of the ranking, every poll is an important physical examination to review the municipal government. The city government team will accept the voices of all parties with an open mind, further examine various indicators, and continue to deepen them if they have done well. If there are still deficiencies, we will propose a specific improvement schedule to respond to citizens' expectations with actual administrative results.
