Prosecutors seek the death penalty for a singer and YouTuber in his 40s who killed his own daughter by assaulting and neglecting her.

Changwon District Court Jinju Branch Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Seung-il Lee) announced on the 11th that the prosecution had sought the death penalty, the maximum sentence in court, for Mr. A, in his 40s, who was indicted on charges of murder and other charges, at the decision hearing for this case held on the 10th.

The prosecution said, "The defendant was under the delusion that his daughter had shamed him in his social life, so he hit him several times with a wooden block and poured hot water on the top of his head, causing burns. He denied the crime without any remorse, and considering his past history of spousal assault, the risk of recidivism is high, so permanent social isolation is necessary."

Mr. A strongly denied the murder charge.

Mr. A's lawyer appealed for leniency, saying that he regretted that he was taken to the hospital late and died, but that there was no intention to kill him.

Mr. A was indicted on charges of assaulting his own daughter, a teenager named B, who was on leave from school at a residence in Namhae-gun in September of last year, and causing her death by leaving her unattended in a vehicle.

The sentencing hearing will be held on the 8th of next month.
