The head of Yemen's Governing Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, said that the Yemeni armed forces, on the side of the internationally recognized authorities, will not allow the Houthi rebels ruling in Sanaa and Iran to establish control over the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, Yemen's state agency Saba reported.

“The state and its armed forces will under no circumstances allow the Iranian regime to achieve its goal of establishing control over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait; any adventure in this direction will result in heavy losses and exhaustion of forces for terrorist groups,” the agency quotes al-Alimi as saying against the backdrop of fighting with the Houthis in southwest Yemen.
