The Xiaoliuqiu Island Ring Road is the main thoroughfare on the island, but tourists discovered intermittent cracks on the road surface in the Wuguidong section. The Pingtung County Government responded that the cracks were caused by the loosening of the roadbed after the 0822 heavy rain. Repairs and construction have been submitted to the central government. It is expected to spend about 11.24 million yuan for reinforcement. The design will be carried out with county funds first, and construction can start immediately after the central disaster repair budget is allocated.

0822 Super heavy rains and suspected water pipe leaks caused the roadbed of the Shiniu River section in Kenting to lose and collapse. After about half a month of emergency repairs, normal traffic of four lanes in both directions has just been restored. Xiaoliuqiu, an outlying island with the same coral reef base as Kenting, was also discovered by the public after the heavy rain at the end of August that long cracks appeared in the Wuguidong section. People pointed out that after the heavy rain, they thought it was just a small crack on the road and ignored it. However, when they looked at it in the past two days, they found that the crack was getting longer and longer. The gap on both sides was no longer just a crack, but it felt like the asphalt on the entire road had been torn apart. The crack had gradually split from the outside lane to the inside lane. Although the road is closed, it is still the peak season and there is still a potential risk to tourists, so it should be repaired as soon as possible.

The Pingtung County Government pointed out that in the case of pavement crack damage on the Xiaoliuqiu Ring Road, it had first requested the Liuqiu Township Office to handle traffic safety control measures and submitted the disaster rehabilitation project for review. The project cost was approximately 11.24 million yuan and was reviewed and approved by the county government. In order to speed up the implementation of the reconstruction project, the county government first handled the labor design with an open contract. After the central government approved it, the contract can be issued. Since Xiaoliuqiu work shifts and materials need time to be dispatched, grouting to prevent moisture from entering the cracks will be the main measure at this stage.
