Emmanuel Macron calls on Britain to return to the European Union

PARIS, September 30 - RIA Novosti. The return of Great Britain to the European Union would be very good news both for this country and for Europeans, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham previously said that the country's exit from the European Union did more harm than good, weakening control over migration. In an interview with British media, he also did not rule out the possible return of Britain to the EU.

"Welcome back! I think that would be very good news both for his country and for the Europeans," Macron said at a press conference in Madrid, commenting on Burnham's words.

As the French leader noted, the EU sees all the restrictions that Great Britain faces when it wants to re-establish relations with EU countries while being outside its borders.

“Because you cannot choose only those union freedoms that suit you, and you cannot decide to take only what is beneficial to you and abandon the rest. So come back,” he said.
