The Kuomintang Party decided to break away from Blue and White cooperation in the Hsinchu County election. Xu Xinying failed to fulfill her promise

The Taiwan People's Party held a response meeting this morning to respond to the election situation in Hsinchu County. Secretary-General Zhou Yuxiu announced that in response to the KMT's Hsinchu County Mayor candidate Xu Xinying's failure to fulfill her commitments and destroying the blue-white mutual trust foundation in the past two years, they decided that elections at all levels in Hsinchu County will no longer be bound by the "2026 Joint Governance and Local Election Cooperation Agreement between the Taiwan People's Party and the Chinese Kuomintang." In other words, members of the Kuomintang Party who help Xu Xinying stand up may at most be expelled from the party. Xu Xinying's camp stated that it "respects the mechanisms of each political party."

Xu Weiyuan, spokesperson for Xu Xinying’s office, responded that they respect the mechanisms of each political party, but Xu Xinying hopes that the goal of Blue and White will remain unchanged, win the election in 2026, and delist the DPP in 2028. She believes that this is also the common goal of Blue and White, and will redouble its efforts to promote unity in the opposition.

Zhang Zhenrong, speaker of the Hsinchu County Assembly of the Kuomintang, said that he believed Bai Ying’s previous resolution would have little impact on Hsinchu County’s county magistrate election at the end of the year. After all, Ko Wenzhe’s 38% vote rate in Zhubei for president has gone into history, and his halo is no longer there. Although he is happy to see blue-white cooperation, the impact on the Kuomintang would not be as severe as the outside world thought.

As for whether Xu Xinying had promised Baiying, he didn't know, but he was sure that none of the Kuomintang Chairman Zheng Liwen and the comrades in Hsinchu County of the Kuomintang had promised Baiying to be courteous to Zhubei.
