台灣社會也該藉此重新審視我們如何對待弱勢者。我們不能一到選舉就探訪庇護工場、與身障朋友合照、喊著照顧弱勢，回到政治攻防時卻忘記預算背後有人要生活，回到鏡頭前又忘記弱勢者的語言不該成為娛樂素材。真正的尊重從來不是同情，更不是逢年過節買幾盒月餅，而是理解每一個人都有平等工作、表達、溝通與參與社會的權利。政治人物如何對待社會上聲音較小的人，恰恰最能反映他的政治價值。庇護工場的工作不是政治道具，手語更不是政治笑話。當政治人物自己都還沒有學會這一課，又憑什麼要求人民把公共權力交到他的手上？
