Military expert Oleg Ivanov said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attacks on Russian cities are aimed at influencing the State Duma elections

The Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are attacking Russian cities in hopes of sowing panic among citizens and influencing the upcoming elections. This was stated by military expert Oleg Ivanov, quoted by TASS.

“This is a psychological influence aimed at intimidating Russian civilians. Moreover, in the coming days the most important elections of deputies to the State Duma will be held in Russia. Therefore, attacks on the population and on peaceful objects are an attempt to influence the course and result of these elections,” Ivanov said.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian army will not be able to achieve its goals. The expert emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are experiencing problems in the combat zone. Ivanov recalled that the Russian Armed Forces have recently liberated a “decent number” of settlements in the Sumy region and are getting closer and closer to Sumy.
