The 48th WorldSkills Competition is being held in Shanghai. In the World Championships, some events are full of technology, some are fragrant, and some are invisible "invisible" competitions. The contestants sit in front of the computer, and the competition takes place between logic, data and systems, testing one's ability to solve complex problems.

The cloud computing project is the only project in the World Championships that connects to the Internet for real-time competition. Players need to build a complete information system on the public cloud, and their scores are displayed on the screen in real time. The rankings may be reversed at any time. It is called the "heartbeat event" of the World Championships.

Network security involves deploying firewalls, detecting vulnerabilities, investigating and collecting evidence, and also breaking through the opponent's defense line in "Capture the Flag" operations.

Mobile application development requires contestants to create a usable mobile app from scratch on site. Each link of interface design, function implementation, and program testing must be completed independently.

In recent years, the proportion of such digital skills projects in world competitions has continued to increase, reflecting the continued growth in global industry demand for digital talents.

At the WorldSkills Competition, the scores of some events are accurate to a few tenths of a millimeter, while other events rely on the judge's aesthetic judgment. What are the two scoring criteria for the WorldSkills Competition?

The scoring system of the World Championships is divided into two categories - measurement points and evaluation points. Anything that can speak for itself with data is called measurement scores, while evaluation scores are generally based on subjective judgments.

Measurement depends on the "ruler". For example, in the CNC milling project, the dimensional error of the parts processed by the contestants must not exceed 0.02 mm, and the judges use a three-dimensional coordinate measuring machine to detect them one by one; in the baking project, the weight error of a piece of bread must not exceed plus or minus 5 grams, the height of a butter flower must be accurate to 0.5 cm, and a handmade chocolate must be between 8 and 12 grams. These are hard standards.

The evaluation depends on the "eyes". For projects such as sugar art/pastry making, floral art, and hairdressing, the evaluation scores account for 60 to 70% of whether they look good, match or not, and whether they are creative or not. The judges will independently score them on site according to unified standards, and the remaining 30% is measurement points.

The weights of the two scoring methods in different events are very different. Measurement points for Industry 4.0 projects account for about 90%; while creative projects such as floral arrangements and hairdressing account for relatively high evaluation points; and there are many projects in between, with measurement points and evaluation points each accounting for half.
