Israel strips Dutch diplomats in Ramallah of diplomatic status

Israel is stripping Dutch diplomats in Ramallah of their status in response to a Dutch ban on trade with Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

The Netherlands will stop accepting products from the territories of illegal Israeli settlements from September 22.

Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank is one of the main problems in Israel's relations with the international community and the Palestinian National Authority.

MOSCOW, September 27 - RIA Novosti. Israel, in response to the Dutch authorities' ban on trade with Jewish settlements in the West Bank, is depriving Dutch diplomats in Ramallah of their status, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said.

Earlier, the Netherlands announced that from September 22 it would stop accepting products from the territories of illegal Israeli settlements. The Jerusalem Post newspaper, citing a diplomatic source, wrote that Israeli authorities are considering the possibility of introducing measures against the Netherlands in response to this step.

“This evening we informed the Dutch embassy in Israel that Dutch diplomats operating in Ramallah must return their diplomatic documentation within seven days. After this, the diplomatic privileges and immunities guaranteed to them by the Israeli state will cease to apply,” Saar wrote on the social network X.
