A unit of the 49th Army of the Dnepr group of troops shot down more than 20 American-made Ukrainian Hornet UAVs in a week.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine began using Hornet drones in the first half of this year, and in the Northern Military District they were nicknamed “Martians” because of the navigation system with automatic target acquisition.

GENICHESK, September 16 – RIA Novosti. One unit of the 49th Army of the Dnepr group of troops shot down more than 20 American-made Ukrainian Hornet UAVs in a week, the deputy commander of the group’s unmanned systems battalion with the call sign Donskoy told RIA Novosti.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces began using Hornet drones in the first half of this year. At the front they were nicknamed “Martians” because of their navigation system with automatic target acquisition.

“Somewhere around 23 Hornets have already been shot down (in a week), we have columns leaving every day. They deliver drones to us on the line of combat contact,” said the deputy battalion commander for military-political work with the call sign Donskoy.
