An accused raises his middle finger towards Al-Aqsa Mosque and insults the police

This came against the backdrop of a provocative incident that occurred in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to the indictment, the facts of which date back to the period of Eid al-Adha last year, the accused entered the Holy Mosque and asked his companion to take a picture of him raising his middle finger towards Al-Aqsa Mosque in an act that the authorities described as disruptive to public order. When the police officers present at the scene intervened to stop him and interrogate him, the accused rained down a torrent of insults and obscene and indecent language at them, describing them as “Nazis,” “traitors,” and “pigs.” During a search of his personal belongings, the police found the flag of the far-right Kach movement, as well as a 10-centimetre-long metal pipe, which he justified possession by claiming that it was intended for “self-defense.” The abuse did not stop there, but continued inside the police station. While he was under investigation, the accused directed racist statements at the investigator, telling him: “Are you an Arab Muslim? You are a terrorist.
