It released 550,000 high-quality fish fry into the Lianjiang River to help restore the ecological restoration and biodiversity of the watershed and kick off the restoration of aquatic biological resources during the construction period of the project.
According to reports, the fish breeding and releasing activities of this project are sponsored by Guangdong Guangdong Huangmaoxia Water Conservancy and Hydropower Co., Ltd. and undertaken by Guangzhou Pearl River Water Resources Protection Technology Development Co., Ltd., with professional guidance from the relevant departments of agriculture and rural areas, ecological environment, water conservancy, animal husbandry and fishery of Guangdong Province, and professional notary institutions participating in the supervision and witnessing throughout the process.
As the largest tributary of the Beijiang River Basin, the Lianjiang River is an important freshwater aquatic organism gene bank in northern Guangdong and even the Pearl River water system. The fish species released this time include grass carp, silver carp, red-eyed trout, barbed barb, Beijiang light-lipped carp, southern white turtle, barb barb, and spiny loach. They will effectively replenish the fish population and quantity in the Lianjiang River and gradually improve the ecological environment of the waters along the river.
The smooth implementation of this increase and release is a pragmatic measure for the Huangmaoxia Reservoir Project to implement the deployment requirements of the Ministry of Water Resources on building safe dams, ecological dams, and smart dams. The Huangmaoxia Reservoir Project is located in the Yingde Dawan Section of the Lianjiang Mainstream in the Beijiang Basin of the Pearl River Water System. It has an estimated total investment of 12.388 billion yuan and a total designed storage capacity of 570 million cubic meters. The main task of the project is flood control, combined with shipping, irrigation, power generation and other comprehensive utilization.
