There was chaos at one point as there was shouting back and forth over the verification of the care center run by Kim's spouse.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Pyeong-cheon and Jeong Yeon-sol = The ruling and opposition parties clashed from the beginning of the National Assembly confirmation hearing for Justice Minister candidate Kim Seung-won on the 15th, exchanging shouts over the social cooperative that cares for the developmentally disabled, where candidate Kim's spouse and children worked.

Even before the ruling and opposition parties started questioning the candidates, they started a war of words, using harsh words.

In his remarks during the proceedings, Rep. Kim Nam-hee of the Democratic Party of Korea pointed out, "Yesterday's press conference by parents of developmentally disabled people was an opportunity to express their pain over People Power Party Rep. Joo Jin-woo's use of hateful expressions such as 'a straw was put through taxpayers' and 'family salary feast' to mislead the union as if it were an illegal organization."

He then said, “I feel truly devastated by the People Power Party’s refusal to accept the cries of families of people with developmental disabilities,” and requested, “I ask the (Legislative) Chairman to request Rep. Joo to apologize and exercise restraint for denigrating organizations that provide services for people with developmental disabilities.”

In response, Representative Joo said, "It is absurd to have a structure in which benefits are concentrated only on the 20 students at the school where Candidate Kim's spouse is the director, and the candidate's family receives a salary from there," and added, "40% of the money that should have gone to children with developmental disabilities went to the candidate's family, so why is there so much to say?"

Rep. Joo said, "The Democratic Party's shamelessness has gone too far," and criticized, "Suwon City Hall officials gave convenience to the candidate's spouse in the business review, and someone failed (in the review). Should developmentally disabled children in other institutions suffer a loss?"

In the open battle between the two lawmakers, the ruling and opposition party lawmakers spoke simultaneously without having the right to speak, and the conference hall quickly turned into chaos.

Representative Kim Dong-ah of the Democratic Party called the People Power Party “the devil,” to which Representative Joo shouted, “What did you say? It’s the devil who steals (money) from families.”

People Power Party lawmaker Kim Tae-gyu asked Seo Young-kyo, chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, about the devil's remarks, saying, "You should apologize. Is this normal?" Lawmakers from the ruling party also raised their voices.

Rep. Kim Tae-gyu sarcastically said, “Oh my gosh, it’s scary,” and Democratic Party Rep. Park Gyun-taek responded, “I’m scared, but then I get angry, and then I’m very free.”

Chairman Seo calmed down the outraged ruling and opposition lawmakers by saying, “The people are reporting on how capable the ministerial candidate is and how much he can protect us, so what is the point of fighting with each other?”
