After five years of running the Seoul Run educational welfare policy, the city of Seoul produced 914 university graduates, the largest number ever this year.

On the afternoon of the 6th, the city held the 'High-Five Seoul Run' at the main building of City Hall to look back on the performance of Seoul Run over the past five years and share its vision.

According to the city, the number of Seoul Run subscribers increased from 9,069 in the first year of launch to 44,000, and a cumulative number of university admissions reached 2,840. Seven local governments, including North Chungcheong Province and Gimpo City, signed a business agreement to introduce Seoul Run.

About 300 people, including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Seoul Run students, mentors, and parents, attended the event.

Part 1 of the event included appointment of new Seoul Run promotional ambassadors, release of new brand image (BI), and Seoul Run growth talk, and Part 2 was a special lecture by teacher Hyejeong Yoon on the theme of ‘real growth through self-directed learning.’

The new ambassadors are EBS Korean language instructor Yoon Hye-jeong, a teacher at Gangil High School who was in charge of the special lecture that day, and Seo Mun-kyung, a student who learned through Seoul Run and is currently working as a mentor.

The new BI visually expresses 'growth and expansion', where students start from learning, go through various experiences and challenges, discover their potential, and move on to the future.

The core of the event, 'Seoul Run Performance Sharing, Seoul Talk', is where Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Seoul Run students, and mentors look back on the Seoul Run's achievements so far and talk about the future direction.

Last July, the city relaxed the criteria for Seoul Run support from 60% or less of the median income to 80% or less in order to strengthen 'accompaniment with the weak.'

In addition, multi-child households, children using local children's centers, grandchildren eligible for national veterans, and single-parent family welfare facility residents are also included in the support target, increasing the number of beneficiaries from the existing 120,000 to approximately 170,000.

According to Korea Research's Seoul Run performance evaluation survey, users' learning capabilities increased from 75 points in 2022 to 83 points in 2025, and learning attitudes increased from 75 points to 85 points during the same period.

It was found that high school student users' academic grades improved by 0.36 points compared to before using Seoul Run.

Mayor Oh Se-hoon explained, "Seoul Run is Seoul City's representative 'accompanying the weak' policy that goes beyond reducing the educational gap due to economic conditions and provides a fair starting line and opportunity for growth to all youth."

He then emphasized, “The biggest achievement over the past five years goes beyond grades or academic achievements, and is that we have opened up the opportunity for children to create a future with their own efforts and talents, no matter what environment they start from.”

In addition, he said, "In the future, we will develop Seoul Run beyond an educational ladder that expands learning opportunities, into a 'growth ladder' that accompanies children throughout the entire process of growing up while planning their dreams and future."
