Today (the 28th) is the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. The National Highway 500 starts the entrance ramps and main line instrument control from Suao to Shiding north at 8 am. The average speed from Yilan to Pinglin is less than 50 kilometers per hour. The south entrance of the Snow Tunnel has been blocked for 5 kilometers at 11 o'clock. The Yilan police predict that there will be a new wave of traffic returning from the north in the afternoon and call on passers-by to pay attention to real-time traffic information.

The traffic team of the Yilan County Police Department pointed out that the first wave of traffic heading north during the Mid-Autumn Festival on National Highway 5 occurred yesterday. There were queues of vehicles at the Snow Tunnel, Yisi ramp and Toucheng Interchange. The traffic flow at the interchanges in Yilan County did not return to smooth flow until 1 am this morning.

There are still heavy traffic jams on the National 5 heading north today. The police remind drivers to drive in order, keep a safe distance between vehicles, and not to change lanes at will, drive on the road shoulder illegally, or rush to jump in line. If it rains, you should slow down and turn on your headlights to ensure driving safety.

From 1 pm to 6 pm today, high-occupancy control will be implemented on all entrance ramps from Su'ao to Toucheng on the north side of National Highway 5. In addition, the Suhua corridor will be closed to large trucks over 21 tons in both directions from 12 noon to 6 pm. The Suhua corridor will open the road shoulders for buses in both directions. The police ask passers-by to cooperate with various control measures.
