The annual power generation of the Malda Hydropower Station, the highest hydropower station on the main stream of the Yellow River, exceeds 5 billion kilowatt hours.

Malzhan Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Yellow River about 5 kilometers upstream of Lajia Town, Maqin County, Goluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. It has an average altitude of 3,300 meters and a total installed capacity of 2.32 million kilowatts. It consists of 4 units with a single capacity of 5 It is composed of 50,000 kilowatts and a hydroelectric generator with a single capacity of 120,000 kilowatts. It is the highest hydropower station built on the main stream of the Yellow River. It is also the backbone power source for China's implementation of "West-East Power Transmission" and "Green Power to Henan".

Since the start of the flood season, the inflow of water in the upper reaches of the Yellow River has continued to improve. The Ma'er Dam Hydropower Station relies on a full-dimensional intelligent management and control platform to dynamically optimize reservoir operation and scheduling, seize favorable opportunities for incoming water, and tap into the potential of water energy. Data shows that since July, the load adjustment accuracy of the power station units has reached 100%. On October 4, the single-day power generation of the Malda Hydropower Station exceeded 50 million kilowatt-hours, a record high single-day power generation since it was put into operation.

As an important part of the clean energy matrix in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, the Ma'er Dam Hydropower Station has comprehensive benefits such as power generation and reservoir regulation. The clean electricity it produces not only serves local electricity needs, but is also sent to load centers in central and eastern China through UHV transmission channels, assisting the green transformation of the energy structure.

It is reported that since the first unit of the Malda Hydropower Station was connected to the grid for power generation on April 1, 2024, the cumulative power generation has reached 13.2 billion kilowatt hours, which is equivalent to saving about 4 million tons of standard coal and reducing greenhouse gas carbon dioxide emissions by about 14.84 million tons.
