A suspect was arrested for killing pregnant Marchenko and hiding her body in the forests of Minsk

According to the Tribuna website, Marchenko had been missing since September 8, before her daughter filed a report with the police two days after the crime occurred.

The authorities were able to identify the suspect and arrest him within 24 hours, while a criminal file was opened against him.

According to the Belarusian Ministry of the Interior, Gavrilinok admitted that he had an emotional relationship with the victim, and that he knew that she was pregnant by him, despite his official relationship with another relationship, which led to repeated disagreements between them.

During a new quarrel, the suspect, according to investigations, stabbed the woman several times, before placing her body inside a suitcase and transporting it outside the city, then burying it in a forest in the Minsk region.

Investigations indicated that he bought a shovel from a store before transporting the body.

According to the authorities, the suspect also disposed of a number of pieces of evidence, including blood-stained clothes and the victim’s mobile phone, and attempted to remove traces of the crime from the apartment where the incident occurred.

Alexei Gavrilinok is the son of former Belarus national team goalkeeper Alexander Gavrilinok. The suspect previously represented the Belarusian national teams, and also participated with his country in the U-20 World Championship during the 2006-2007 season.

At the club level, Gavrilinok played with Brest between 2008 and 2015, before ending his career as a player and heading into the field of arbitration.

As for his father, Alexander Gavrilinok, a former goalkeeper, he represented the Belarus national team between 1992 and 1999, and played 17 international matches, during which he conceded 39 goals.
