Lavrov said that Ukraine has no right to represent the residents of Crimea and Novorossiya

Ukraine does not have the right to represent the residents of Crimea and Novorossiya in accordance with the UN Declaration of Principles of International Law. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting of the UN Security Council, TASS reports.

“The principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity are applicable to those states that respect the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples and have a government that represents, without distinction of race, creed or color, all the people living in a given territory,” Lavrov cited the 1970 UN consensus Declaration on the Principles of International Law.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities cannot represent the residents of Novorossiya and Crimea in this way, since they themselves have declared them “terrorists, non-humans and creatures.”
