Slutsky: Russia will no longer suspend the special operation for negotiations with Ukraine

Russia had previously “paused” the special operation and suspended the offensive in order to negotiate with Ukraine, but this only led to the fact that Kyiv had time to rearm, so Moscow will not take such a step again, said Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, as quoted by TASS.

The parliamentarian recalled that Russia was withdrawing troops from the Kyiv and Chernigov directions in order to ensure the signing of the Istanbul Peace Treaty in March 2022. “And in return they received a staging and provocation in Bucha and the withdrawal of the neo-Nazi regime from the negotiation process when it was rearmed by the collective West. We won’t fall for this bait anymore,” he said.

Slutsky recalled that Kyiv knows the conditions for ending the conflict, and if they are fulfilled, hostilities can end within 24 hours. However, the more the Ukrainian authorities drag out the conflict, the harsher the final proposals for a settlement will be.
