The Taiwan-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCTB), composed of Taiwanese businessmen and the mainstream Brazilian business community, gathered 150 guests including representatives of the Food Sales and Marketing Group of the Association of Land and Foreign Trade on the 14th to hold its inaugural meeting at the Grand Mercure Hotel in Sao Paulo. Taiwan-friendly politicians and the business community expressed their expectations for future bilateral business cooperation. The dinner featured Taiwanese cuisine brought by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Council’s food tour chef, accompanied by local Brazilian desserts, highlighting the vision of two-way exchanges between Taiwan and Brazil in various cultures and arts such as business and food.
The inaugural meeting kicked off with a short video showing Taiwan's vitality and technology. The first president, Ye Guangxiang, pointed out that the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce aims to build a strategic bridge between Taiwan and Brazil, combining Taiwan's information technology and medical advantages with Brazil's agricultural trade and raw material resources to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. He also set a goal of exceeding 100 members in the first year, hoping to promote cooperation through business inspections and high-level dialogues.
Zhu Yijing, director of the Taipei Cultural Office in Sao Paulo who was an important promoter of the establishment of the Taiwan-Brazil Chamber of Commerce, said that Brazil is the largest market in South America and an important investment base for Taiwanese businessmen. Taiwan leads the world in the chip industry, producing 90% of high-end chips, and its per capita GDP has surpassed Japan, South Korea, Spain and other countries. Brazil is currently actively striving to become a "complete dialogue partner" of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which shows its ambition to expand international participation. Taiwan, as a high-tech leader in Asia, calls on both sides to pay more attention to and promote bilateral exchanges.
In addition, Zhu Yijing reiterated that peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait are the cornerstone of global economic and trade prosperity, and hoped that the chamber of commerce would create a new situation in exchanges. Gil Diniz, chairman of the Taiwan Friendship Front of the Sao Paulo State Assembly, who has visited Taiwan several times, and Raquel Gallinati, a state legislator and director of the Brazilian Association of Chiefs of Police, all expressed the same sentiments.
Diniz praised the enthusiasm and fighting spirit of the Taiwanese people. The establishment of the Taiwan-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce can deepen bilateral relations. He will continue to promote the pro-Taiwan bill in the state parliament.
Raquel Gallinati strongly condemned the Interpol cooperation network for excluding Taiwan, which has led to an increase in the risk of transnational crime. She also said that Brazil should not be silent. She will personally make every effort to strive for Taiwan's participation in various international security organizations.
The Taiwan-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce is currently mainly planning to promote the "Taiwango Project". Alexandre Nakatani, who is in charge of the project, gave a briefing at the founding meeting. In the future, the Chamber of Commerce will build a cooperation hub center that connects the bilateral ecosystem, integrating business associations, technology parks, universities, investors and local governments to provide business matchmaking, technology docking, training and other services to promote cross-regional activities of Taiwango Experience.
The establishment meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was attended by a large number of guests. In addition to Brazil's mainstream political, business and media media, executives from representative Taiwanese companies that have invested and set up factories in Brazil were also present to support the event. The Foreign Trade Association's "2026 Across the Americas: U.S.-Mexico-Brazil Food Development Group", which just arrived in Sao Paulo, also participated in the event. 20 Taiwanese manufacturers came to Brazil with nearly a hundred Taiwanese specialty products. Chen Xiuqing, the proud founder of Taiwan's first "braised food museum", said that he looks forward to conquering the stomachs of Brazilians with Taiwanese snacks in the future.
Zhu Yijing specially arranged for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Council's Taiwanese food traveling chefs Tsai Kuncheng and Lin Yanzhao to serve three classic Taiwanese dishes at the dinner: "Gollu Shrimp Balls", "Shacha Beef Slices" and "Taiwanese Three-Cup Chicken", making the banquet at the inaugural meeting full of Taiwanese flavor. Finally, it was paired with Brazilian fruit mille-feuille pie to implement the vision of presenting two-way cultural and artistic exchanges between Taiwan and Brazil, such as business and food.
