Karasin appreciated the interest in the Russian delegation at the UN General Assembly

Interest in the Russian delegation to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) increased day by day, said Grigory Karasin, a member of the delegation and chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs. The senator spoke about his attitude towards representatives of the country in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

Karasin said that the Russian delegation held 15 meetings daily with colleagues from other UN member countries.

“Plus, multilateral events. Plus a speech at the Security Council and a speech at the General Assembly. That is, there was no time to breathe. So there is great interest in our views, in our position. It's growing. Because people understand that Moscow’s positions are of interest. They want to understand our train of thought,” the senator noted.

The politician added that all the conversations of the Russian delegation were very intense.

“They concerned not only global problems, but also bilateral issues of developing relations: trade, economic, cultural, educational, and so on,” he said.

Earlier it became known that the Foreign Ministers of Russia and Germany Sergei Lavrov and Johann Wadeful met at the initiative of Germany at the UN headquarters on September 26. The last time the Russian minister met with the head of the German diplomatic service was in January 2022 in Moscow, when this post was still held by Annalena Bärbock. The negotiations took place behind closed doors for approximately 20 minutes.
