Zhou Xun and Chen Kexin's "Tomorrow Will Be Better" premieres in Toronto to explore Alzheimer's disease and intimate relationships

Zhou Xun previously attended the world premiere of "Tomorrow Will Be Better" at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Directed by director Peter Chan and starring Zhou Xun and Wang Xiao, the new film "Tomorrow Will Be Better" (formerly known as "Alzheimer's House") recently had its world premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival and was selected as the "Special Screening Unit". The work uses Alzheimer's disease as an incision, focusing on patients and family members whose memories are gradually lost, and explores the reconnection of marriage, family affection and intimacy under the dramatic changes in life.

Zhou Xun plays the role of ace host Shen Jia in the film. She originally had a successful career, but at the same time she faced a broken marriage and family alienation. When her memories began to disappear bit by bit, she was forced to face her relationship with her family again. This is also the third collaboration between Zhou Xun and Peter Chan after "If Love". The two worked together again after 20 years apart. Zhou Xun revealed that they still maintain a familiar and comfortable tacit understanding on the set. He even joked that the two have agreed to "make another movie in 10 years", which shows the deep friendship between them.

Wang Xiao plays another important role. In order to understand the character's emotions when facing illness and family changes, he visited the patients' family members to observe the helplessness and family affection hidden in the details of life from real experiences. He also added his own ideas to the interaction with giant pandas, and the original improvisation eventually became a special scene in the movie.

Peter Chan said that this time he hopes to "make a movie quietly and well" and also hopes that the audience can calm down and watch it. He believes that the English title of the movie "The Road Not Taken" is taken from the poem of the American poet Robert Frost. Life is always faced with choices. People often imagine whether "another road" is better, but what really matters is not which one is chosen, but how to take the chosen road well. "Because you are willing to work hard for a better tomorrow, tomorrow may be better."
