Three people on a fishing boat died in Nichinan City, Miyazaki after going out to fish for spiny lobster and did not return.

At around 7:50 a.m. on the 3rd, the Miyazaki Coast Guard received a report from Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture that a fishing boat that had gone out for shrimp net fishing had not returned. According to the safety department and fire department, three people on board, including the 76-year-old captain, were found, but all were confirmed dead. The fishing boat has not been found, and the National Security Agency is investigating the cause of the incident in detail, as well as dispatching aircraft to search for it.

According to the Japan Safety Bureau and other sources, those who died were the captain, who lived in Nichinan City, and an 82-year-old man and a 73-year-old man who were on board. The fishing boat was a 0.9-ton Shintokumaru belonging to the Nango Fisheries Cooperative, and there were no other passengers on board. Around 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on the same day, a fishing boat belonging to the fishing association searching the area found three people adrift in a state of cardiac arrest off the coast of Sotoura Port in Nango-cho, Nichinan City. None of them were wearing life jackets.

According to the fishermen's association, the Shintokumaru left port at around 2 a.m. on the same day to fish for spiny lobster and was scheduled to return early in the morning.

At 5:35 a.m. on the same day, a sea wind warning was issued for Hyuga-nada. When the safety department's patrol boat arrived at the scene, the weather was cloudy and visibility was good.
