Taiwanese boxing hero Lin Yuting wins first match at Asian Games

Lin Yu-ting (Taiwan), who was at the center of the so-called 'gender controversy' at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but won the gold medal with overwhelming skills, won the first match of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Lin Yuting won a 3-2 decision over Kazakhstan's Viktoria Grafeeva in the women's 60kg boxing round of 16 at the competition held at the Nishio City Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan on the 26th.

Of the five assistant referees, three declared Lin Yuting to have the upper hand, while two ruled in favor of Grafeeva.

Lin Yuting received a deduction of 1 point in the second round, but was slightly ahead in effective hits throughout the game and qualified for the quarterfinals.

Lin Yu-ting, who emerged as a Taiwanese boxing hero by winning the gold medal in the 57kg class at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and then reaching the top of the featherweight class at the Paris Olympics, is challenging for his second consecutive Asian Games title by moving up to a weight class in this competition.
