(Nagoya = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Kyung-yoon = Namadi Joel Jin (Yecheon County Office), the next-generation star in track and field short distances, was unable to complete the race due to leg muscle cramps in the men's 200m preliminaries at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Namadi Joel Jin gave up the race while competing in Group 4 of the men's 200m preliminary round held at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya, Japan on the 26th.

An official from the Korea Association of Athletics Federations told Yonhap News, "Namadi Joel-Jin took a doping test until dawn after finishing the men's 100m final the previous day, and competed this morning. As a result, he appears to have suffered muscle cramps in his legs during the race. Namadi Joel-Jin decided that pushing ahead with the race could lead to a serious injury, so he gave up."

He added, “We are currently treating the problem area,” and added, “We are concentrating on ensuring that we can compete in the most important relay event without any problems.”

Namadi Joel Jin is a Korean sprinter who ranked 4th overall in the men's 100m final held the previous day with a time of 10.17 seconds.

Namadi Joel Jin is listed on the list of participants in four events, including the men's 100m, 200m, men's 400m relay, and mixed 400m relay, of which the men's 400m relay is considered a strong medal event.

Meanwhile, Lee Jae-seong (Jeonnam Gwangju City Hall) ranked 4th in group 3 of the preliminary round with a time of 21.42 seconds and advanced to the semifinals.
