The Korean archery team advances to the semifinals in all six team events at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Ahn Hong-seok = The Korean archery team advanced to the semifinals in all six team events at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Choi Yong-hee (Hyundai Steel), Choi Eun-gyu (Ulsan Nam-gu Office), and Kim Jong-ho (Hyundai Steel) defeated Iran 239-234 in the quarterfinals of the compound archery men's team event held at Chuo Park, Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture, Japan on the 27th and advanced to the semifinals.

The 239 points scored by Korean players is also a new Asian Games record. At the 2014 Incheon Games, Choi Yong-hee, Min Li-hong, and Yang Young-ho scored 238 points together, breaking the record by one point.

The perfect score for the compound men's and women's team event is 240 points.

In the compound women's team event, Kang Yeon-seo (Seongsa Middle School), Park Jeong-yoon (Changwon City Hall), and Park Ye-rin (Korea National Sport University) won 230-230 <29-28> after a shoot-off against Thailand and advanced to the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals of the mixed team event, Korea, teamed with Park Jeong-yoon and Choi Yong-hee, won 158-158 <20-19> after a shoot-off match against Iran.

In the three compound team events, the semifinals, finals, and third place match will all be held on the 30th.

In both the men's and women's team events, Korea's semifinal opponent is India, the 'strongest compounder'.

India swept all five gold medals in compound at the 2023 Hangzhou Games.

The Korean men's national team has bitter memories of losing to India at the Hangzhou Games and having to be satisfied with second place in the team event.

Korean Archery recruited Italian coach Sergio Fani, who coached the Indian national team at the Hangzhou Games, to lead the compound national team.

Korea will attempt to advance to the finals against China in the mixed match.

The ‘world’s strongest’ recurve team also sailed smoothly.

Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall), Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office), and Lee Woo-seok (Kolon) defeated Mongolia 5-3 (57-51 57-54 55-57 58-58) in the quarterfinals of the men's recurve team event.

Kang Chae-young (Hyundai Mobis), Oh Ye-jin (Gwangju Bank), and Lee Yun-ji (Hyundai Mobis) also defeated Kazakhstan 5-3 (57-47 53-54 56-55 56-56) in the women's team event and advanced to the semifinals.

In the mixed match between Kang Chae-young and Kim Je-deok, Korea advanced to the semifinals by beating Mongolia 5-3 (39-39 37-38 39-36 39-36).

The semifinals, finals, and third place match of the three recurve team events will be held on October 2.

Korea will attempt to advance to the finals against Taiwan in the men's team event, Indonesia in the women's team event, and China in the mixed event.
