More than 60% of public observers in the State Duma elections are women, the average age is about 37 years

More than 60% of public observers in the upcoming elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation will be women.

The average age of observers is about 37 years, and this season more young people have joined public election observation (about 26% of the observation pool is people aged 18 to 35).

Elections of deputies to the State Duma of the ninth convocation will take place in September, voting will take place over three days - from September 18 to 20.

MOSCOW, September 15 - RIA Novosti. More than 60% of public observers at the upcoming elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation will be women, Alexey Peskov, executive director of the NOM Association and co-chairman of the coordination council at the RF OP for public control over voting, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“If we rely on the data of this season, then of those observers who will go to the polling stations, approximately 68 percent are women. Accordingly, the remaining 32 (% - ed.) are men. The average age is about 37 years,” Peskov said.

The expert also noted that this season more young people have joined public observation of the elections.

“This is the result of the work that the system of Public Chambers and human rights activists at the federal level in the regions are doing, talking without ties to the student audience. Today, about 26% of the structure of the community’s observation pool are people aged 18 to 35,” Peskov said.
