“To be honest, we are not very well prepared for this,” he admitted in an interview with Newsweek on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

According to Berse, Europe has weaknesses in the energy sector, security system and infrastructure as such. Therefore, he said, European countries must first “evolve to be able to counter hybrid threats.”

He also stressed that Europe is still in the process of “catching up.”

President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly explained in detail that Moscow has no intention of attacking alliance countries, but Western politicians regularly intimidate their populations with an imaginary threat to divert attention from internal problems.

Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the bloc's buildup of forces in Europe. The Foreign Ministry declared openness to dialogue with NATO, but on an equal basis, while the West must abandon its course towards the militarization of the continent.
