Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, pilot operation of ‘musical instrument sharing support project’ to bridge the gap in arts education

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 23rd that it will pilot the 'Musical Instrument Sharing Support Project' to revitalize art education and provide students with rich artistic experiences.

This project was prepared to reduce the gap in the arts education environment depending on regional and school conditions and meet the demand for diverse musical instrument education by lending musical instruments owned by the city office of education and schools to schools of interest for a certain period of time.

A total of 118 instruments of 17 types will be rented, including 20 instruments of 13 types, including timpani, marimba, cello, and saxophone, purchased by the city office of education, and 98 instruments of 4 types shared by schools, including drum sets and ukuleles.

The target of this year's pilot operation is Hope Elementary School in the district.

The city office of education will receive applications from schools wishing to rent instruments by the 28th and select schools eligible for support, and the selected schools will operate educational programs tailored to the characteristics of each school using rented instruments from October to January next year.

The city office of education plans to secure additional rental instruments next year and expand the project to all elementary, middle, high schools, and special schools.

Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, “The musical instrument sharing support project will be an opportunity to provide students with a rich artistic experience through education using various musical instruments,” and added, “We will continue to provide diverse support to create a sustainable school arts education ecosystem.”
