Daegu University, Gyeongbuk's first university-affiliated AI gifted education center opens in March next year

Daegu University announced on the 24th that it will operate the first university-affiliated artificial intelligence (AI) gifted education center in Gyeongbuk starting next year.

The education center is a reorganization of the existing information gifted education center within the university to discover and foster talent that will lead the future AI era, and received approval for conversion from the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education in accordance with the Gifted Education Promotion Act.

This facility, which is scheduled to open in March next year, will run three courses for students: AI Basics (no grade system for 4th graders to 1st year of high school), AI Advanced (no grade system for 4th graders to 1st year of high school), and AI+X (independent research for high school 2nd year students).

The training content includes the latest AI algorithm machine learning, hackathon deep dive, and data collection and analysis, and Daegu University AI/SW expert faculty and convergence field faculty will provide direct guidance.

Participating students will also be provided with opportunities to present papers at academic conferences and attend CES.

The new student recruitment period for the 2027 school year will be from October 16 to November 6, and the total number of students will be 15 for each course.

Those eligible to apply are elementary, middle, and high school students in the Gyeongbuk region who have completed a gifted education center or have won an AI-related competition, or who have been recommended by a teacher in recognition of their academic ability in the AI ​​field.

After an academic aptitude test and in-depth interview, the final successful candidates will be announced on November 28th. However, those within 10% of the total quota are selected through the social integration process.
