A sixty-year-old killed in front of his home in Nogent-sur-Aube

Violence struck Tuesday evening in a small village in Aube. A sixty-year-old man was killed in front of his home, from where a “group of individuals” was seen fleeing, the Troyes prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday.

The investigation into intentional homicide was entrusted to the research section of the Reims gendarmerie, said prosecutor Isabelle Verissimo.

Injuries “on the face”

Tuesday, around 9:30 p.m., a resident of Nogent-sur-Aube, a town of around 300 inhabitants located 25 km northeast of Troyes, heard screams coming from his neighbor, the prosecutor said. On going there, this resident noticed that a “group of individuals were fleeing”, before seeing through the gate his 60-year-old neighbor lying lifeless on the ground of the property, outside the home.

On their arrival, emergency services noted the death of the victim, who “presented injuries to the face and the back of the head, suggesting the intervention of a third party,” said Isabelle Verissimo. An autopsy was ordered.
