Shenyang Taoxian International Airport Second Runway Project Flight Area Construction Starts

China News Service, Shenyang, September 17 (Reporter Yu Haiyang) The kick-off meeting for the construction of the flight area project of the second runway project of Shenyang Taoxian International Airport was held on the 17th, marking a key step in the expansion and upgrading of the Liaoning-Shenyang aviation hub, and a milestone for the development of civil aviation in Shenyang and even Liaoning.

The second runway project of Shenyang Taoxian International Airport is a key project of Liaoning Province and Shenyang City during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period. The project has a construction target of 2035. After completion, it can meet the needs of annual passenger throughput of 45 million people and cargo and mail throughput of 400,000 tons. The construction content includes: building a new runway 3,600 meters long and 45 meters wide at 2,140 meters south of the existing runway. The flight area grade index is 4E, and a Class II precision approach lighting system is installed in the main landing direction. The main construction content includes 2 parallel taxiways, a platform with 98 aircraft positions, as well as supporting facilities such as cargo rooms, water supply, power supply, communications, and fire rescue. At the same time, supporting construction of air traffic control, fuel supply, postal and other projects will be carried out. The high-quality construction of the second runway of Shenyang Taoxian International Airport is not only an urgent need to solve the current shortage of airport runway capacity and improve comprehensive support capabilities, but also an important practice to help Shenyang build an international central city in Northeast Asia and an international comprehensive transportation hub. It is also a concrete action to support Liaoning's comprehensive revitalization and deep integration into the joint construction of the "Belt and Road".

At the construction kick-off meeting, the relevant person in charge of Liaoning Airport Group stated that all participating units will strive to build a "safe, green, smart, and humanistic" four-type airport, strive to create "quality projects, model projects, safe projects, and clean projects", strictly fulfill contracts, strictly adhere to the bottom line, and devote themselves to the high-quality construction of the project with a higher sense of mission and responsibility.

It is reported that construction content such as foundation treatment, earth excavation and backfilling of the flight zone project will be advanced in the near future, and the project is expected to be completed in 2029. After the completion of the second runway, the peak hour capacity of Shenyang Taoxian International Airport will be greatly increased, the aviation support capability and operational efficiency will achieve a qualitative leap, and it will drive the accelerated concentration of airport logistics, cross-border e-commerce, high-end manufacturing and other industries, injecting strong impetus into Shenyang's construction of an international central city in Northeast Asia and the comprehensive revitalization of Liaoning.
