Nuclear Safety Information Sharing Center opened by Nuclear Safety and Security Commission in Gijang, Busan and Ulju, Ulsan

Providing customized information such as data viewing, online search, and resident briefing sessions

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Seunghan Cho = The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission announced on the 22nd that it will open and begin operating the Gori Nuclear Safety Information Sharing Center and Saeul Nuclear Safety Information Sharing Center in Gijang, Busan and Ulju, Ulsan.

The Information Sharing Center is an organization equipped with professional facilities and manpower to efficiently and transparently disclose nuclear safety information to residents of surrounding areas.

Last June, four locations, including Gori, Saeul, Wolseong, and Yeonggwang, were selected through a public contest, and two of these locations were opened first.

The information sharing center is equipped with ▲ resident data reading room, ▲ online information search booth, ▲ nuclear safety information library, and ▲ resident communication space.

In the future, the center will serve as a regional communication base by holding briefing sessions for local residents, operating regional customized content, and supporting the operation of the Nuclear Safety Council.

About 70 people, including Choi Won-ho, Chairman of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, local governments, local councils, and local residents, participated in the opening ceremony.

Additionally, an information sharing center work report, a signboard unveiling ceremony, a facility inspection, and a certificate of appreciation for council members were delivered.

Chairman Choi said, "It is significant in that an open communication channel has been established so that local residents around nuclear power plants can easily and conveniently obtain necessary nuclear safety information on site through the information sharing center." He added, "We will continue to increase the community's trust in nuclear safety through active information disclosure and communication tailored to the residents' perspectives."

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission plans to install additional information sharing centers in areas surrounding nuclear facilities in three regions, including Gochang, Uljin, and Daejeon, through an additional public offering in the first half of next year.
