Three Nobel Prize winners and 16 domestic and foreign scholars discuss the future of science in Seoul

World-renowned scholars, including three Nobel Prize winners, discussed with the Korean public the future of science that will be transformed by artificial intelligence (AI).

The Korea Academy of Science and Technology announced that it held the 'Nobel Prize Dialogue Seoul 2026' at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 20th in collaboration with Nobel Prize Outreach under the Swedish Nobel Foundation.

The Nobel Prize Dialogue is a special overseas event of the 'Nobel Week Dialogue', an academic event held in Sweden around December 10th every year, when the Nobel Prize ceremony is held.

It was held for the third time in Korea, following 2017 and 2023.

Three people participated in this event, including Professor David Macmillan of Princeton University, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Professor Brian Schmidt of the Australian National University, winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics, and Professor Craig Mello of the University of Massachusetts, USA, winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

In addition, 16 experts in various fields, including science and technology, art, and philosophy, participated and communicated with an audience of 1,200 people.

There was also a time for six Korean high school and college students to discuss the topic of what kind of person is a Nobel Prize winner and a great scientist in the AI ​​era.

Jin-ho Jeong, President of the Academy, said, "AI is rapidly changing the paradigm of scientific research, and it is an important time to think about its future together."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it held a meeting with First Vice Minister Koo Hyuk-chae, Nobel Foundation Secretary General Hannah Scherne, and three Nobel Prize winners to exchange opinions on the future of science that will be changed by AI.
