There are more than 70 days left in the end-of-year nine-in-one election. Wei Jiaxian, an independent candidate for Hualien County Mayor, held an unpacking of the "Future Base" of the campaign headquarters today. A "Hualien Progress Wishing Wall" was specially set up at the entrance of the base. Wei Jiaxian said that the headquarters will be opened in early October and invites villagers. Come in, sit down, and speak your mind. "The candidates are not the only ones here to speak, but more importantly, the people of Hualien have to speak." In addition, the campaign headquarters of KMT candidate You Shuzhen is still being planned, and independent candidate Zhang Jun revealed that it will be in mid-October.

"If you could change one thing in Hualien, what would you most like to change?" Wei Jiaxian said. A "Hualien Progress Wishing Wall" was specially set up at the entrance of the base, inviting every visiting public to write down their expectations for their hometown. From a road that needs improvement, children's education, youth jobs and housing, to elder care, transportation, disaster prevention, tourism and local industries, every message represents a real life need and may also become the starting point for the next policy.

"Many achievable policies have been planned, but I am even more looking forward to the next good policy, which is what the folks in Hualien told us." The team will continue to sort out public opinions and make the wishing wall not just a message wall, but a platform for dialogue between public opinion and policy. Wei Jiaxian emphasized that policies should not just be a thick stack of political opinions, but should be understandable, accessible to everyone, and able to put forward different opinions. "One person's ideas are called political opinions, and only the participation of a group of people can become the future of Hualien."

The overall space is based on the theme of "Let Hualien stride forward" and plans six major policy display areas: "life, safety, transportation, tourism, wisdom, and ethnic groups", and presents the four policy axes and 12 action plans of governance innovation, livable hometown, co-prosperity and common good, and generational sustainability. "Future Base" also hopes to become a window to understand Hualien. A Hualien-specific exhibition and sales space is planned on-site to display local famous products and co-branded products from Hualien and the National Palace Museum. In the future, small farmers, specialty stores and local brands will also be invited to participate, giving more opportunities for good products and good stories from 13 towns and cities to be seen.
