Incheon City conducts joint safety inspections for fishing boats and fishing boats in the fall season

Incheon City announced on the 27th that it will conduct joint safety inspections with related agencies on fishing boats and fishing boats within the jurisdiction to prevent marine accidents during the fall fishing season and tourist season.

Among the 1,476 registered fishing boats in Incheon City, old fishing boats weighing less than 10 tons that are vulnerable to accidents, fishing boats with a history of accidents, daily fishing boats for two people or less, and fishing boats are subject to inspection.

We check the status of major equipment in the engine room together with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, basic local governments, Incheon Coast Guard, Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, and Incheon Fishing Vessel Safety and Operation Bureau, as well as the availability of safety equipment such as life jackets, the operating status of navigation and radio equipment, and the status of management of the list of people on board fishing boats.

The plan is to take on-site action for minor violations through inspection, and to take strict action, including administrative sanctions, if serious violations are discovered.

Kim Ik-joong, director of the city's Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Bureau, said, "As fall is a time of year when the frequency of marine accidents occurs, we ask that both fishermen and passengers strictly follow safety rules. We will do our best to protect precious lives and property by working with related organizations to prevent safety accidents on fishing boats."
