People’s Party Secretary-General Zhou Yuxiu criticized Xu Xinying’s remarks for discrepancies with facts and called on her to think twice and be careful when speaking.

As politicians from ruling and opposition parties officially registered this week for the year-end nine-in-one local elections, public attention focused on the breakdown of the "Blue-White cooperation" in Zhubei City, Hsinchu County. Hsu Hsin-ying, the Kuomintang (KMT) candidate nominated for Hsinchu County Magistrate, stated in an interview that she had previously "received no concrete commitment from the TPP to support the primary," and denied that the KMT had intended to yield the Zhubei mayoral race. Her remarks drew a sharp response from TPP Secretary-General Chou Yu-xiu, who expressed "dismay and disappointment," stating directly that her words deviated greatly from the facts and significantly eroded mutual trust between the two parties.

Chou pointed out that Candidate Hsu’s recent inability to practice what she preaches regarding cooperation in the Zhubei mayoral race has substantively impacted opposition cooperation across counties and cities nationwide, while eroding the mutual trust that the TPP and the KMT have built over the past two years. He expressed surprise and disappointment that Hsu would attempt to relieve pressure with statements that deviate so far from reality.

Chou said that looking back at the negotiation process, the TPP always exercised maximum patience and sincerity to carefully wait, verify, and seek solutions whenever Candidate Hsu and the KMT Central Committee introduced new questions, arguments, or reasons at each stage. In the end, even though the outcome fell short of expectations, the TPP's choice remains rooted in integrity and goodwill, striding forward on the foundation of party autonomy.

He lamented that right after the election registration deadline passed, Candidate Hsu chose to reverse the facts. Such statements are not only untrue, but also amount to a direct slap in the face to all the friends who worked tirelessly to foster cooperation during the negotiation process.

Finally, Chou called on Candidate Hsu—as a county magistrate candidate nominated by a major party—to demonstrate magnanimity and present solid policy proposals after registration, rather than attempting to twist concepts on top of ironclad facts or gossip after the damage has already been done. He urged Candidate Hsu to think twice and speak with caution.
