A horrific car accident occurred today at the intersection of Hongye Road and Dongxijiu Road in Zhuangwei Township, Yilan County. Two cars full of tourists, who were not familiar with the local road conditions, collided at a field intersection, causing both to lose control and fall into the farmland. Seven people were injured. Fortunately, they were not seriously injured after being sent to the hospital. The detailed cause of the accident has yet to be clarified by the police.

The scene of the car accident was devastated. A white car driven by a 19-year-old man Wu and a black SUV driven by a 68-year-old man Guo collided violently. Then the two cars overturned in the field next to the irrigation ditch. The car body was severely deformed and parts were scattered. After receiving the report, the fire station dispatched Zhuangwei and Yilan detachments to the scene. Fortunately, the people in the car climbed out one after another.

Police investigation revealed that both drivers were not drunk, and the passengers in both vehicles were tourists from out of town. Due to their unfamiliarity with the rural road conditions in Zhuangwei, they failed to give way at the intersection at the unsigned road and caused a disaster. Drivers are urged to slow down and be courteous when passing through rural branch road intersections, and pay attention to the situation in front of the vehicle at all times.
