The Iraqi Integrity Commission announces the arrest of 78 people accused of corruption during August

The Iraqi Federal Integrity Commission announced the implementation of 191 oversight and inspection operations in various governorates of the country during last August, which resulted in the arrest of 78 defendants in cases related to corruption and waste of public money.

According to the Authority’s statistics published by the Iraqi News Agency, the operations carried out included 39 raids and red-handed arrests, which ended with the arrest of the accused and their referral to the competent judicial authorities to take legal measures against them.

The Authority also carried out 152 operations to seize and seize priorities, including documents, documents and contracts related to suspected violations or suspicions of corruption, with the aim of securing the necessary evidence for investigations and judicial procedures.

These operations come within the framework of the efforts of the Iraqi authorities to strengthen oversight of state institutions, pursue files of financial and administrative corruption, and protect public funds.
