Russian security thwarts illegal activity by citizens accused of high treason

Russian security said in a statement today, Friday, that it had put an end to the illegal activity of citizens born in 1978 and 1983 in the Kostroma region, who were involved in crimes of high treason and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

According to the statement, it was proven that the two men communicated with a representative of the Ukrainian security services via the Telegram application and, based on his instructions, collected information about participants in the special military operation and transferred it to the enemy, in addition to transferring money for the benefit of Ukrainian armed formations.

After the arrest of the accused, a 7.62 mm Tokarev (TT) semi-automatic pistol, ammunition for it, a sawed-off hunting rifle, and 240 rounds of the same caliber for weapons were found in their homes.

A criminal case was opened against the two men under articles of the Russian Criminal Code related to high treason and the illegal possession, circulation, storage and carrying of weapons and ammunition.
