Cross-border trade grows at Tianbao Port in Malipo County, with durian imports becoming the core driving force

In the first seven months of this year, the cross-border trade situation at Tianbao Port in Malipo County was improving, with import and export freight volume of 247,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%. Among them, imported fruits performed well. Tianbao Customs has supervised the import of 107,000 tons of fresh durians with a value of 2.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.3% and 8.5% respectively. Durian imports have become an important driving force for the growth of port foreign trade.

Xia Yan, the person in charge of Malipo Fenghui Customs Brokerage Co., Ltd., said: "We currently import durian varieties such as Jinzhen and Ganyao from Tianbao Port. The daily import volume is about 200 tons, and the highest volume in a single day is more than 400 tons."

Tianbao Customs strictly adheres to the national food safety defense line, establishes a rapid response mechanism for regulatory inspection and laboratory testing, and issues test reports within 24 hours. The testing efficiency of imported agricultural products ranks among the top in the province, effectively protecting the "safety on the tip of the tongue" of the people.

Gong Qiutsomu, a customs officer at the Tianbao Customs Port Supervision Section, said: "We use customs-enterprise dialogue and door-to-door policy delivery to promote the use of facilitation measures such as advance declaration and appointment inspection, so that goods can be inspected as soon as they arrive and released as soon as they are qualified. On the premise of strictly adhering to the bottom line of safety, we can promote the expansion of trade scale."

The comprehensive optimization of the customs clearance process not only benefits foreign trade companies, but also greatly reduces the circulation and turnover time of fresh fruits, allowing imported fresh fruits to reach the consumer market quickly and directly.

Lu Jiangbo, a freight driver who has been transporting to and from the port all year round, has an intuitive feeling about this: "It has been the peak season for durian export recently. We haul a lot of durians, and most of them are sent to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Customs clearance at Tianbao Port is fast. In the nearest city, we can deliver imported fresh durians to consumers in as fast as seven or eight hours."
