Representative Jang Dong-hyuk criticizes President Lee Jae-myung and calls for impeachment

People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk said about public sentiment during Chuseok on the 28th, "Our people have decided to part ways with President Lee Jae-myung," and asserted, "If we go against public sentiment and go against the grain, the only way left is impeachment."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Representative Jang said, "President Lee last night divided the people, talking about 'a small minority with malicious intent' and 'low-grade fighting forces', and posted a message asking the president's friends to help. Public sentiment will not change if we cling to the president's friends."

Regarding the suspected mine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), he pointed out, "Intentional delay in the investigation, reduction of the accident, and cover-up are all impossible without the president's instructions. In the end, the president is covering up the truth of North Korea's provocation."

He continued, "We must reveal every detail of what reports were made to the President and what instructions he gave from the North Korean military's invasion of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) in June until now. If the President ordered the cover-up of the accident, this is clear grounds for impeachment."

Regarding the controversy over the non-disclosure of the repatriation of North Korean prisoners of war to Ukraine, he said, "There is no reason why the repatriation cannot be made public since their faces have already been revealed and their intention to go to Korea has been confirmed. The only reason to hide it is Kim Jong-un's discomfort."

He said, "This president has absolutely no intention of protecting the country and its people. I am confused as to whether he is the President of the Republic of Korea or the Chief of Staff to North Korea's Kim Jong-un. If he has no intention of protecting the people, he should not be in the position of president. Whether he must step down himself or be pulled down by the people, the day of fate is not far away."

Meanwhile, in response to the Democratic Party's talk of dismantling the National Court Administration and cutting special activity expenses, special work expenses, and business promotion expenses targeting Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae, who refused to request reappointment, Representative Jang said, "This means that the judiciary will kneel at the feet of the regime. Something that could only happen in Nazi Germany is happening in the Republic of Korea in 2026," and added, "It is time to discuss ways to grant the judiciary independent budget planning rights." said.

He also said, “There is only one path for Chief Justice Cho to choose, and that is the resumption of Lee Jae-myung’s trial,” and urged, “The resumption of Lee Jae-myung’s trial is the way to protect the judiciary and the Republic of Korea. I hope that Chief Justice Cho will make the decision of the times.”
