The man transferred virtual currency to the administrators of a channel in a messenger that collects money for international organizations recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia.

The court sentenced the man to imprisonment for a period of eight years: four years in prison, the remainder of the sentence in a maximum security correctional colony.

TYUMEN, September 24 – RIA Novosti. The Central District Military Court found a resident of the Tyumen region guilty of financing terrorist activities and sentenced him to eight years in prison and a maximum security colony, reports the press service of the Investigative Directorate for the Tyumen Region.

The investigation and the court established that a 56-year-old man transferred virtual currency to the administrators of a channel in a messenger that collected money for international organizations recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation.

“A local resident was found guilty of... financing terrorist activities. By the verdict of the Central District Military Court, the man was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of eight years with four years to be served in prison, the remainder of the sentence in a high-security correctional colony,” the message says.
