軍聞網站《Air & Space Forces Magazine》報導，這筆合約將啟動IVEWS低率初始生產（LRIP），主要因應美軍中央司令部（CENTCOM）在中東提出的作戰需求。首批規劃為72架Block 50型F-16換裝，之後預計進入全率生產，最終目標涵蓋450架F-16。

IVEWS由諾斯洛普格魯曼研製，是直接整合進F-16機體的超寬頻電子戰系統，具備雷達預警、主動干擾、威脅偵測、識別及定位能力。最大特色之一是「單機自主地理定位」，一架F-16即可找出敵方雷達位置，同時持續啟動干擾器。

相較之下，較舊系統通常需要多架戰機進行三角定位，建立威脅位置時還可能必須關閉干擾器。諾格指出，IVEWS讓飛行員能一邊電子干擾、一邊繪製敵方雷達威脅位置，提升進入高威脅空域執行任務時的自我防護能力。

美國空軍2025年9月曾發布緊急作戰需求，國會隨後提供1.87億美元，加速IVEWS資格驗證及飛行測試。系統自2024年開始飛測，目前已完成超過300架次、累計550小時測試。
