Saudi Arabia condemns the Houthi attacks, calls on the Security Council to take a firm stance, and affirms its support for the unity of Yemen and the sovereignty of Syria

Saudi Arabia called on the UN Security Council to take a clear and firm stance towards the terrorist and criminal attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi militia, which targeted civilian and economic objects in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran, and resulted in the injury of 73 civilians, including women and children, in order for the Council to fulfill its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.

In a speech by its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, during the emergency session held by the UN Security Council to discuss the attacks by the terrorist Houthi militia on the Kingdom, the Kingdom stressed the need to ensure the full implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions, and to stop all forms of support that enable the terrorist Houthi militia to continue its hostile behavior and attacks that threaten the security of the region and international shipping lanes.

Dr. Al-Wasel warned of the seriousness of the Houthi escalation and its repercussions on the security of the region, stressing that these attacks not only target the security of the Kingdom, its citizens, and its capabilities, but also represent a threat to navigation and international trade in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

He affirmed the Kingdom's legitimate right to defend itself and protect its security, sovereignty, citizens, residents of its lands and national capabilities, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the provisions of international law.

Al-Wasel renewed the Kingdom’s firm position towards the Republic of Yemen, based on preserving its unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, stressing the Kingdom’s continued support for reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the Yemeni crisis under Yemeni leadership, in a way that achieves security and stability and meets the aspirations of the Yemeni people.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Foreign Minister, participated in the International Space Summit, hosted by the French capital, Paris, on Thursday, on behalf of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The summit was co-chaired by France and Germany, with the participation of heads of state and government from around the world, as it aims to enhance international dialogue and explore prospects for joint action through high-level talks.

The attendees at the summit discussed confronting the challenges of the global space economy through international cooperation, exploring space science and technology, and many security and economic issues in the field of space science, in order to achieve security and stability for peoples and the world.

From the Saudi side, the summit was attended by Major General Samah Al-Zahrani, Chairman of the Communications and Information Technology Authority of the Armed Forces in the Ministry of Defence, Mohammed Al-Janoubi, Deputy Governor of the Communications and Space Commission, and representatives of the Space Agency and the Communications, Space and Technology Commission.

On Thursday, Saudi Arabia condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli Prime Minister’s illegal entry into Syrian territory, and considered it a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a violation of international law.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement, that Riyadh denounces the entry of the Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation government into the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, stressing its refusal to harm the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Saudi Arabia stressed the need to stop Israeli violations and transgressions against Syrian territory, and to adhere to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, in a way that contributes to preserving the security and stability of the region.

In this context, the Kingdom renewed its support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
