Qassem calls for stopping direct negotiations with Israel and describes their results as “below zero.”

The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, called on the government in Lebanon to stop direct talks with Israel, describing their results as “below zero, not zero.”

Qassem’s speech came on the second anniversary of the killing of the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah. In his speech, he touched on the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon, and said that it was “a shameful concession by the Lebanese authority of all the cards that this authority could have and could benefit from in trying to obtain Lebanon’s rights.”

Qassem continued: “The authority tried direct negotiations in seven rounds. What was the result? I do not know if there is below zero, below zero and not zero, in these different rounds.” They say: The president has the right to negotiate, and he is using his right.

He continued his speech: “It is true, the president has the right to negotiate, but he does not have the right to violate the Constitution, the Taif, the oath letter, and the ministerial statement, to give up the right of Lebanon, its people, and its army to defend its land, and to give up suing the occupier. He is primarily responsible for working to protect undiminished sovereignty. “No one can come up with expressions until an idea becomes clearly a failure.”

The Secretary-General of the Iran-backed group also added: “We call for an end to concessions, we call for a review and correction of the negotiating path. Freeze the direct and go to the indirect,” referring to direct negotiations with Israel.
