Alice Weidel commented on Hendrik Wüst's proposal to ban the AfD

Alice Weidel, co-chair of the opposition party Alternative for Germany (AfD), said she was amused by the idea of ​​North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst to create a working group that would deal with legal measures against the party and, in particular, the issue of its possible ban.

“I laughed when I read that Mr. Wüst really wants to create this working group on the issue of banning the Alternative for Germany. What can we even say?” - Weidel said in an interview with Welt TV channel.

This is how the head of the party commented on Wüst’s call to create a joint working group at the federal and regional levels, which would deal with constitutional and legal issues related to the AfD. Wüst assured that the results of the group’s activities would not lead to an automatic ban on the party, but he did not directly rule out such an outcome.

The right-wing opposition party Alternative for Germany (AfD), according to preliminary data, won with 43.8% of the vote in the parliamentary elections in Saxony-Anhalt. She advocates tightening migration policy and protecting traditional values.
